A Start

Hello all. This is my first attempt at a blog. I'm hoping that this will keep you all in the loop with what's going on with me while I am in PA school.

Maybe a little background is in order. A few years ago, I decided to change my career path to something medical. At the suggestion of some family members and a lot of research, I decided the best fit for me would be to become a Physician Assistant.

That led to a year and a half of extra undergrad classwork to complete the needed pre-requisites as well as almost 3 years of working as a CNA in both assisted living and hospital settings.

Last July, I applied to 11 schools (I think). I was invited to attend interviews at Harding University in AR, the University of Florida, Midwestern University in AZ, Trevecca Nazarene in TN, Pacific University in OR, and the University of Toledo in OH. I received acceptances at the first three schools. I fell in love with the University of FL and their program, so I accepted their offer and declined the interviews at the last three schools.

Since then, I've just been working and waiting. I won't actually start classes until July 2. So, it may be a little early to start this blog, but it's OK. I still have a lot of preparations to take care of before I leave. I plan on leaving at the end of May in order to start establishing residency in Florida. Doing so should save me about $30,000 on my second year...so, it's kind of important that I get that taken care of.

I'm not usually super good at keeping a regular journal of my life, but I promise to try. PA school will be really hard and really busy, so posts may be few and far between. But, I really want to use this blog as way to preserve the next couple of years. It's going to be quite the adventure.

So, thanks for coming. Thanks for reading. And, drop me a line every now and then if you feel like it.
