Florida Rain
This is the rainstorm that I went out in today. Sorry, I shot this on my phone which is really old and has a horrible camera, but it should still give you an idea of what it was like.
Playing in the rain
One thing about Florida is when it rains, it really rains. This weekend has been particularly wet. Today, I was sitting in my car for a minute after getting home when it started to rain. It went from nothing to complete downpour in a matter of seconds. Just going from my car to the building 20 feet away was enough to get me half-soaked. Well, I figured I was already halfway there, why not make the best of it.
So I stepped out into the deluge.
It. was. amazing.
The rain was warm and strangely inviting. I walked out into the parking lot and jumped around in this stream that had formed there. I stood and put my face to the sky and let the rain wash away all the worry and regret and fear and anxiety of the last few months...if only for a minute. I felt young again. I can't remember the last time that I actually played in the rain, twirling and jumping and splashing, without regard to how wet I was getting or who was watching. None of it mattered.
I'm sure there's a deeper lesson to be had in this one little moment in time, something transcendental. But honestly, I don't want to think about that just yet. I just want to enjoy it for what it was and when it was...A typical Florida rainstorm in June and a 29 year old man-child acting the fool for the world to see with the biggest smile he's had on his face in a long, long time.
